Royal Copenhagen皇家哥本哈根，丹麥皇太后茱莉安‧瑪麗為製作皇室御用瓷及餽贈外國禮品於1775年資助創立的御用製瓷所，融合傳統歐洲工藝和東方繪畫藝術的獨特的風格讓它成為丹麥的國寶。其標誌上的皇冠代表皇家御用，三條波浪線則代表圍繞丹麥的海峽：厄勒海峽、大貝爾特海峽和小貝爾特海峽。根據皇太后的指示，為了宣揚丹麥的文化，所有皇家哥本哈根作品都必須由畫師手繪三條水波紋，迄今丹麥皇室仍對Royal Copenhagen持續愛用著。

奠定Royal Copenhagen皇家哥本哈根手繪名瓷至今屹立不搖且最讓世人津津樂道的三件代表作，依序是：

1775年傳承至今最經典的「藍釉唐草系列」；

1802年問世的「丹麥之花」；

1908年開始生產至今受到世界各地皇家哥本哈根愛好者瘋狂收藏的「聖誕年度紀念盤」。

而聖誕年度紀念盤的起源來自於歐洲古老的莊園傳統：莊園主人為感謝僕人們一整年的辛勞，特別在聖誕節前夕賞賜一盤水果、糖果與糕餅等佳餚供僕人享用，獲贈者在收到禮物後往往將此聖誕盤懸掛於家中以示感恩。後來僕傭間開始彼此炫耀家中所獲贈的聖誕盤，而各家主人得知僕人間的較勁，更開始在盤子上多花心思，或刻有精美紋飾，或繪有裝飾圖案。事實上，富人們為了不落人後，其投注在盤子本身的心力已超過裝盛食物的實質意義，也開始在盤上記年，收藏聖誕年度紀念盤的習俗於焉展開！

自1908年起Royal Copenhagen 皇家哥本哈根推出第一片年度紀念盤，迄今已經超過100餘年。而1908年推出的年度紀念盤「聖母與聖子」現今在國際拍賣市場中價位更是高不可攀，這不僅是對皇家哥本哈根的尊崇，更足以說明該品牌在全球瓷廠上的翹楚地位。皇家哥本哈根年度紀念盤多以丹麥名勝或是歡慶節日與家庭團聚作為不同的年度主題，再經由淺浮雕技術、多次重複的鈷藍釉下彩與1500度的高溫窯燒而成，尤其每年聖誕年度紀念盤的製造模具，在製作出一定數量後就立刻銷毀不再生產，故市面流傳的數量只會愈來愈少，這些都是年度紀念盤最獨一無二且極富收藏價值的獨到之處。

Royal Copenhagen's Christmas plate from 1992 depicts King Christian VIII's coach driving past Christiansborg palace. As far back as the 12th and 13th centuries Denmark has been renowned for her impressive horses. By the 1500s Denmark had also built a fine reputation for her magnificent and lavishly adorned coaches. The prestigious reputation led to the establishment of the Royal Stables which have been home to the Royal horses and coaches since 1690. The coach in this year's plate motif is the distinguished gilt coach. The coach of Christian VIII which in 1840 was created by coach builder Henry Fife. Crown Prince Frederik ( the 8th) and Crown Princess Louise used this coach for their entry into Copenhagen in 1869. The coach was repaired in 1954 and is today used by Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik on official occasions and also at the New Year levee. Another fascinating feature of this year's Christmas plate is that Christian VIII, whose coach is seen, was the last absolute monarch in Denmark, as the present constitution was introduced in 1848, and behind the coach you see Christiansborg palace, the place in which the present Danish Parliament, democratically elected, is seated.
